PTI chairman's judicial remand extended until Sept 13 in the Cipher case

Pakistan-e-Tehreek (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, had his passport confiscated for alleged involvement in the cipher case, in which he was a defendant, and was placed on judicial remand until September 13 of this year.

There has been a summons sent to the chairman of the PTI to appear before a special court in the matter.

An award has been made by a special court set up to hear cases under the Official Secrets Act regarding the former prime minister. The court has extended the former prime minister's judicial remand by 14 days until the end of the case.

As part of the missing cipher case, in which Imran Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, was charged, he was tried in Attock jail.

There is a particular case here where it appears that the special court didn't ask for any judicial remand extension for the former prime minister in this case. Instead of taking place outside the jail as was the case in the past, the hearing actually took place inside the jail, as opposed to taking place outside.

Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, a Special Court Judge, held a hearing within the Attock Jail in which he addressed the prisoners in a criss-cross style format.

PTI's legal team chair filed three applications at the special court on behalf of the company after the case hearing was over, as a result of the hearing.

As was reported, the first application in the cipher case was filed by the Chairman of the Pakistan People's Party in order to seek bail.

This application points out that a case under the Official Secrets Act cannot be brought against the chairman of the PTI for the reason that the action is being taken against him as a political revenge act under the Official Secrets Act.

The Ministry of Law has been notified that a second application to overturn the notification has been filed. A ruling has been made that the order for hearing the cipher case was null and void as a result of the complaint, and this has been upheld in court.

There has been a third application filed by Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Turkistan Islamic Party (PTI), asking for an open trial for the case.

There have been notices sent to the FIA and other parties requesting them to reply to the bail application filed after the arrest, as a special court judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain has sent the notices to them. The FIA did not respond to the notices that were sent to them. It was on September 2 that he sent them a letter requesting their response to his request.

In a recent decision, the Law Ministry gave permission to the Attock Jail to hear the cipher case, as originally requested, as the case would be heard there in accordance with the law. I am pleased to inform you that this application has been approved by the Ministry of Justice. The case of the cipher will be heard in a special court in jail tomorrow and the court will hear the case in jail regarding the cipher case and a court hearing will be held in jail regarding the cipher case tomorrow.

There were reports this week that the PTI chief had been arrested as part of the investigation into the PTI cipher case, and this is a true story. Due to the issues associated with missing documents, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has requested judicial assistance from the federal courts in response to a request for judicial assistance it has made.
